Creating a Legacy to Conquer Arthritis
Early in life while mowing lawns, growing and selling tomatoes and managing a neighborhood McDonald’s restaurant as a junior in high school, Kevin Mandrell always knew he had a natural knack for business. He was surrounded by strong business leaders and felt drawn from an early age to dive into business on his own.
In 1984 he married the girl of his dreams and started a family. By the early 1990s he was busy keeping up with his young family while starting a new insurance firm when he was contacted by the local leader of the Arthritis Foundation office in Indianapolis to provide insurance. Through the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, the Arthritis Foundation was about to receive much more than just insurance coverage.
Having seen how the pain and debilitation of the disease hampered his mother, Kevin offered to be a volunteer. He soon joined the local board, and in 2007 took over as board chair. Under his leadership, Kevin could see the difference the Arthritis Foundation was making in the lives of those suffering from the disease.
Kevin’s success in growing the Indiana office, and his passion for the cause, made him a natural choice to serve on our national board, where he was active from 2008-2013. Most recently, Kevin has been tapped to lead our capital gifts campaign.
Always choosing to lead from the front, Kevin has made a “Legacy Gift” part of his investment in the organization. Life insurance is an easy and creative way to support the Arthritis Foundation. It provides future resources while giving the benefactor a tax deduction.
By purchasing permanent or whole-life insurance, and making the Arthritis Foundation both the owner and beneficiary of the policy, the premiums can be a great tax deduction. Most importantly, Kevin and his wife Annette are creating a legacy that will help us conquer arthritis!
