Houston Kicks Off the 2019 National Juvenile Arthritis Conference Today!
Over 800 kids, teens, young adults and their families from across the country are landing in Houston, Texas, for the first of two National Juvenile Arthritis (JA) Conferences the Arthritis Foundation is hosting this year. This week’s conference will kick off our 35th annual gathering of JA families during JA Awareness Month, and offers a variety of events and informational program tracks focused on education, connecting with others and fun.
The JA Conference is a unique opportunity to bring together families of kids, teens and young adults affected by JA and other rheumatic diseases. Over the long weekend, they are able to network, learn, share tips and form bonds that can last a lifetime.
Held at the beautiful Hilton Americas Houston in the downtown metropolitan, the hotel sits next to Discovery Green park, George R. Brown Convention Center and is minutes away from Minute Maid Park (Houston Astros), BBVA Compass Stadium (Houston Dynamo and Dash) and the Toyota Center (Houston Rockets).
Attendees of all ages will find plenty to do – from the lively opening dinner and family fun night to young adult discussion panels, health education from experts across the country and lots more.
“We are honored and excited for the start of our two great JA Conferences this year and welcoming all our JA Families to Houston,” says Bob and Jennifer Tonning, 2019 Juvenile Arthritis Conference volunteer co-chairs. “We hope everyone is able to relax and connect with new friends and reconnect with old ones and enjoy this experience of a lifetime.”
