Artificial Tears Recall
Eye drops have been linked to drug-resistant bacterial infection.

The manufacturer is recalling its over-the-counter moisturizing eye drops EzriCare Artificial Tears, which has been linked to eye infection, including vision loss and at least one death, due to bacterial contamination. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is advising people to stop using the eye drops as it continues its investigation in at least a dozen states.
Many people with inflammatory forms of arthritis and related conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Sjögren’s, use over-the-counter and prescription eye drops to relieve chronic dry eye.
The CDC is working with the Food and Drug Administration and local agencies to investigate the outbreak of a drug-resistant bacterial infection that has affected people in at least 12 states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
