The Arthritis Foundation Goes Global: Arthritis Foundation Leadership Presents on an International Stage
With the knowledge that arthritis is a worldwide challenge, arthritis experts and leaders from around the world will come together in London for the Arthritis Worldwide Charities meeting on June 8 and 9. Organizations focused on arthritis from Australia, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom and the United States plan to share best practices and strategies to conquer arthritis. Arthritis Foundation President and CEO Ann Palmer will be attending the meeting in London and is co-chairing the meeting’s Charity Business Models sessions.
“I am proud to represent the United States and the Arthritis Foundation at the Arthritis Worldwide Charities meeting next week,” says Ann Palmer, president and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation. “It is an honor to join other thought leaders from all over the world who are committed to leading the fight for the arthritis community.”
The group hopes to move toward strengthening internationally comparable data on musculoskeletal diseases, as well as share strategies for programmatic areas of focus including marketing. Palmer will introduce our new brand, which was unveiled in April, and review the progress we have made in implementing our new strategy.
“Thousands of people in the United States have engaged with the Arthritis Foundation since the launch of our new brand earlier this year,” says Palmer. “We’re hopeful that an international audience will also embrace our new positioning, look and messaging all with the goal to chart a winning course and make each day another stride toward a cure.”
On the second day of the meeting, attendees will split into two tracks: charity business models and research issues. For the first track, nonprofit leaders will discuss branding and marketing, engaging at the local level, engaging donors and working with the medical community. The research track will cover the international mobility of researchers, delivering on discovery, quality of life research, utilization of registries and research priorities from all involved including the Osteoarthritis Research Society International. Dr. Amanda Niskar, Arthritis Foundation National Scientific Director participated in planning the research issues track and is a scheduled speaker.
Palmer and Niskar also will have the opportunity to share other points of pride, including our success in growing our reach through a focus on scientific discovery, help and support, advocacy and access and juvenile arthritis. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Worldwide Arthritis Charity Partners aim to agree on two to three areas of international collaboration in defeating arthritis.
“This meeting is a huge step in the right direction in addressing the global health issue of arthritis,” says Palmer. “I am honored to join forces with these leaders, and I look forward to working together for many years to come.”
