Highlighting a Thought Leader: Bing Chang
The Arthritis Foundation champions the fight against arthritis and we are excited to have thought leaders, such as Rowland W. (Bing) Chang, MD, MPH, as a partner in this fight.
Dr. Chang is a rheumatologist, epidemiologist and health services researcher. He was named chair of the Arthritis Foundation’s board of directors in November 2016.
With more than 34 years of practice and research experience, Dr. Chang is one of the leaders of the Arthritis Center at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (NU-FSM).
“I am proud to be a part of the Arthritis Foundation because the organization is the voice of the more than 54 million people with arthritis,” Dr. Chang tells us. “The work the Foundation is doing to conduct data-driven polls to assess the patient’s voice is tremendous. To then articulate the patient voice effectively into policy-relevant forums puts us that much closer to finding a cure.”
In addition to his health care and research expertise, Dr. Chang has a long history of leadership and service with the Arthritis Foundation. As an active volunteer for more than 30 years, he served on standing committees overseeing public policy, research and public health activities. Dr. Chang’s research and educational endeavors also led to his prominence in the arthritis community at the state and national levels.
“It is an honor to be selected as chair of the Arthritis Foundation’s board of directors,” says Dr. Chang. “The Foundation is creating impact in the lives of people with arthritis, and as board chair, I look forward to influencing policies and strategies to change the lives of those affected by the nation’s leading cause of disability—arthritis.”
